Matthew is nominated for a second NYIT Award, Outstanding Performance in a Featured Role!

On Monday, July 24, 2017, the New York Innovative Theatre Foundation announced the nominees for its annual IT Awards, and Matthew was named as one of three nominees from 'MARIAN, OR THE TRUE TALE OF ROBIN HOOD' by Adam Szymkowicz, produced by Flux Theatre Ensemble in January/February of 2017. He is nominated for Outstanding Performance in a Featured Role, for his turn as Guard #1.  The award ceremony will be in September 2017!

Matthew is featured in Robert Gonyo's podcast 'Go See A Show!'

Even joy these days seems somewhat defiant…the joy of the show is a statement, too. We live in times where allowing yourself to laugh is a political act, because it feels like we’re not supposed to…it feels like a bit of a revelation when people come here, and realize, ‘oh, I forgot about comedy…I forgot about what it’s like to release in that way…
— Matthew Trumbull on MARIAN, OR THE TRUE TALE OF ROBIN HOOD, Go See a Show! podcast, Feb. 7, 2017

Matthew discussed joy, comedy, and Robin Hood along with fellow MARIAN, OR THE TRUE TALE OF ROBIN HOOD cast member Kevin R. Free and fight director Rocío Mendez on the Go See a Show! podcast, with host Robert Gonyo.

Much hilarity ensues when Matthew dons his wooden sword to play Sir Theo the Punctual and Guard 1 in Flux Theatre Ensemble's gender-fluid comedy  MARIAN, OR THE TRUE TALE OR ROBIN HOOD by Adam Szymkowicz, currently running through February 11th.     Houses have been full, and this week is selling out fast, so get your pay-what-thou-wouldst Living Ticket here!  (What is a Living Ticket?)  TIme Out New York's Helen Shaw called Matthew "A downtown treasure" and loved his "great idiot-guard routine".

Uff da!  Matthew participated in his second Phil Olson developmental reading in New York, "A Nice Family Christmas"--First Place winner in the McClaren Comedy Festival, Second Place winner in the Robert J. Pickering Award for Playwriting Excellence, and optioned for film by Terry Botwick and Jerry Jameson.  Matthew played Carl the beleaguered journalist, continuing a character employment trend this year, and rolled out the accent of his native land, Minnesota.  It was a great night of laughs at the Dramatist Guild!
